I've had my Soundcore Q30's for 4 years, they are great value for money, in fact nearly impossible to beat for the price. Now, they are physically deteriorating, battery life fading etc, so I hoped to get both a replacement AND a big upgrade. I researched and researched but came to the conclusion that you need to spend £200+ to get a significant upgrade and - I didn't want to spend that, so lowered my sights to a replacement with a slight upgrade. I read reviews of the Space One Pro and a couple said to save your money and get the Space One instead. They came on sale at £55 and I thought I can't lose, right? This review is a comparison with my Q30s, and I tested them back to back with the same songs etc, and I also asked my wife for a 2nd opinion but first for reference: I have tried (borrowed) the Sony XM3s, XM4s which are straight up better than these and the Q30, especially the noise cancelling but by default they have a more neutral (boring?) sound. I also tried the cheaper Sony CH720N and sent them straight back, they were more comfortable but Q30s sounded better, and they were not a patch on the XMs. So to the Soundcore Space One, they are a fair bit bigger (see photo Space One's in white), which was good for me as I have a big head and massive ears (yep, a real catch). This makes for better physical sound isolation and they're slightly more comfortable than the Q30s. They don't feel heavy and certainly not heavier than the Q30s. One obvious downgrade, they have a drawstring bag not a hard case but mine rarely leave the house so I wasn't bothered. First the good, + The app is better with more features. It compares more favourably with the Sony, with a premium HearID feature that "autotunes" the EQ to your hearing. + They have wear detection which you can calibrate in the app and it works well, its not failed me yet. + The noise cancelling is slightly better, decent but not close to Sony level, my wife concluded the same. She noticed constant white noise with the Q30s, these are virtually silent. It has adaptive noise cancelling but I set it to 5/5 levels manually. + You can use them wired and the noise cancelling and EQ still works and therefore sound much better than the Q30 which turn off when plugged in. + The microphone is a another minor improvement, its a tad clearer for calls. + Transparency feature is somewhat improved, sounding less like you're in a bucket. Neutral/didn't use - Multipoint - Connecting my phone and PC works same as before - LDAC high res audio - Haven't tried yet as I was concerned about affecting multi point or connection reliability. - Easychat Touch - Call me a luddite but I prefer to use the button, works fine though. - Easychat Talk - Haven't tried (I talk to myself too much) - Build quality - They are very similar build quality, I expect them to last as long as the Q30s - Charging - I thought these were fast charging, but they seem to charge as per the Q30s i.e. 4 hours from nearly flat. Now the bad, - Sound quality: big disappointment, these are a downgrade in sound quality! The Q30s sound clearer, and more balanced for all types of music and also podcasts. The bass overpowers the other frequencies even on spoken word making everything sound boomy and dull. I like the default "Soundcore Signature" EQ on Q30s but its awful on these. You can't completely tune the bass out with EQ either, and that makes a mockery of the HearID feature too. You can just about make it acceptable but I nearly sent them back. FYI...My wife agreed about the bass heavy sound but once tuned felt they were on a par. - Battery Life - Like my Q30s I use these daily for work, Teams meetings, music and podcasts. My Q30s would easily last a week and only recently started fading to 4-5 days. Out of the box these are 5 days, so nearly the same battery life as my 4 year old Q30s which they replace BUT - 5 days is still pretty good! Sound quality is arguably the most important feature so I think these are actually more 3 star headphones despite the other features which are pretty good. However I paid less for these than I did for my Q30s 4 years ago, so for value they are 4 star and overall I'd say a worthy replacement but not quite an upgrade.
